D&D: The Fate of Orthain
Lord Varideth Cildri
The late lord of the Cildri clan, and a legendary warrior.
A tall elf with dark brown hair and green eyes, lord Varideth was considered a man of good humour and unquestionable bravery. Before he was a lord, or the leader of a Clan, Varideth was a warrior, ready to shed blood for the sake of his home and his country. At near every event, lord Varideth could be seen adorned in the garb of his house: fine armour emblazoned with his house crest, and the pelt of a brown bear around his shoulders. Never far away was his great-axe, with which he made his name known. Now the axe rests at the foot of his death tree in the everwoods, below the fluttering banner of his house.
As a member of the Cildri Clan, lord Varideth was of pure Elven blood, able to trace his line back to the high lords of the Eldari (pre-fracture elves). Alive for over a thousand years, Varideth is of the first generation of Wood Elves, and the founder of the Cildri clan.
Before he was a lord, or the leader of a Clan, Varideth was a warrior, ready to shed blood for the sake of his home and his country. Of his thousand year lifespan, two centuries were dedicated to standing guard at the wall, something near unheard of for one with the blood of ancient lords. Despite his status, lord Varideth stood shoulder to shoulder with his men, and fought against the Ozryn until the birth of his first daughter, whereupon he returned to his family’s grove in the everwoods, to groom her for control of the house should he die.
The tales of his battles and adventures live on in song, but none is sung so loud as the “Last Stand of Lord Cildri”. During the undead siege of Woodhaerst, Lord Cildri engaged the revenant of Hirka Tsurugi (one of the greatest swordsmen to ever live). Though lord Cildri struck down the revenant, he was mortally wounded. He gave his life, and the battle was won.
Now his eldest daughter Almara Cildri is poised to take leadership of the Cildri clan.
